The origins of our project goes back to the creation of Paracarnival in 2010.
We met with our late patron; founder and former director of London Disability Arts Forum; wheelchair user Sian Vasey OBE; with the aim of bringing a core message of fairness; equality and inclusion to thousands of carnival goers at the Thames Festival. From there we have expended the range of our services as well as the diversity of our members.
Our programmes take place in an atmosphere of friendship, trust and everyday equality and provide free, accessible opportunities for people to shape and engage in a diverse range of social, creative skills and pathways. Building a strong cohesive society by encouraging and supporting independence and personal resilience and enabling people to engage meaningfully in mainstream culture and society.
